To make way for the new Royal Adelaide Hospital to be built, the old railcar yards on North Terrace needed to be relocated to Dry Creek. Jordan Plumbing was engaged to perform the plumbing component that covered 12 buildings of over 15,000m2 in total. This included a maintenance facility, an automated railcar wash, a roof & bogie was building, refuelling & waste disposal facility & network control centre.
All of the workshop service pits are fitted with a drainage system which collects the waste water from undercarriage steam cleaning area, carriage washing, car cleaning areas and pumps it all to the Trade Waste area where it goes through an oil plate separator – to remove any oils and toxins before the waste is sent to the sewer. Recycled water provided to all toilets for flushing. 2.3km of cold water, 1.2km recycled water and 1km gas services were installed in five buildings.
